Microsoft Teams is setting a new standard for hybrid collaboration with features like IntelliFrame, AI-powered audio and video, inclusive video layouts, and proximity-based meeting join. To unlock their full potential, meeting room design must be intentional and tech-savvy.

IntelliFrame

Creating an equitable meeting experience, IntelliFrame ensures all participants, whether remote or in-room, are framed clearly. To maximize this feature, camera’s need to be able to capture everyone at eye level, providing an inclusive and natural view for remote attendees. This requires a new approach to the way we design our meeting rooms.

AI-Powered Audio and Video

AI-driven enhancements optimize sound and visuals to minimize distractions and elevate communication. Microphones need to be Microsoft intelligent speaker compatible, which will allow for in-room identification of who is speaking and aid in-transcription.

Inclusive Video Layouts

Microsoft Teams’ inclusive video layouts bridge the gap between in-person and remote participants but to take full advantage of this - displays need to be correctly sized for the application and correctly positioned. This feature also requires correct camera positioning in order to be effective.

Proximity-Based Meeting Join

Proximity join uses Bluetooth and Ultrasound technology to allow a mobile device to invite or nudge a Teams room device into a meeting. This will enhance the Teams room experience and make these rooms even easier for users to use especially in ad-hoc situations.

Conclusion

By aligning room design with these innovative features, you can create collaborative spaces that truly empower hybrid teams. Its vital that design practices are adapted so that your meeting rooms are ready for modern collaboration.
